Abstract

한국어 초록

사회적으로 많은 비판에 직면한 한국기독교와 교회는 심각한 위기에 봉착해 있다. 이 위기의 근저에는 한국교회와 기독교인의 각종 병폐에서 비롯된 것이다. 본고에서는 한국교회의 문제분석을 위해 철학에 있어서 존재론적 개념인 개체화와 참여, 역동성과 형식, 생동성과 지향성, 그리고 자유와 운명이라는 개념을 사용한다. 또한 한국교회의 문제를 자기중심주의, 형식주의, 권위주의, 세속주의라는 네 가지 문제점으로 구분하였다.
먼저, 자기중심주의 일반적인 특징으로는 자신의 것만 모으려고 하지 주려고 하지 않으려는 성향, 모이기는 잘 하지만 하지 흩어져 이웃을 돌보려고 하지 않으며, 자기주장을 강하게 하고 남의 의견을 존중해 주지 않는다는 특성을 지니고 있다. 한국교회의 이러한 자기중심주의는 개교회주의를 만연하게 하여 자기교회만 관심을 갖고 그 외에는 관심을 보이지 않게 한다. 또한 자기중심주의는 극심한 교파분열을 초래하여 한국교회의 진정성을 약화시키게 하며, 사회참여에 소극적이어서 정의를 실현하고 어려움을 당한 이웃들을 보살피는 일을 등한 시 하게 만들고 있다.
둘째, 형식주의는 신앙의 내용보다 형식을 강조하고, 자신의 모적 모습을 과시하려는 바리새인적 태도를 보인다. 형식주의로 인해 한국교회는 예배가 형식화하여 예배를 통한 역동성과 하나님 체험이 약화되고 있다. 이러한 형식주의는 신앙행위의 형식화 하여 이원론적 사고를 팽배하게 하고 신앙과 행위의 불일치로 나타나게 되었다. 또한 형식주의는 교회제도의 형식화 하여 교회를 직제중심구조로 변모시켜 교회 내 계층 구조를 심화시켰다.
셋째, 권위주의는 인위적 권위 만들기로 나타나 교회지도자들이 비상식적인 권위과시행태를 보이며 교인과 목회자 사이를 유리시키고, 영적 성숙과 인격적 성장을 도외시하며 목회자들 사이에 외형적 학위를 추구하여 권위를 만들려는 경향이 만연해 있다, 정상적인 상식을 무시하는 경향이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 권위주의로 인해 한국교회에 발생하는 문제는 목회자의 권위의식, 담임목사 중심의 교회구조, 교회의 계층화, 교회갈등 등의 문제를 일으키고 있다.
넷째, 세속주의는 한국교회가 성장제일주의를 지향점으로 추구하면서 교인 수를 중시 여기는 경향과 이어지는 물량주의적 성향, 교인들이 세상 속에서의 생활수준을 교회로 가져 옴으로써 가난한 자들이 배제되는 귀족주의, 목회자들을 비롯한 교회지도자들의 비윤리성의 문제를 야기한다. 구체적으로 세속주의가 일으키는 한국교회의 문제는 대교회주의로서 그것이 목회자들의 입신양명사상과 결부되어 과도하게 큰 예배당 짖는 경쟁으로 이어지고, 도덕성의 결여로 인해 부정부패를 비롯한 여러 가지 개인적, 사회적 문제를 일으켜 사회로부터 교회가 지탄받는 상황을 야기하고 있다.
이론적으로 분석해 볼 때 이러한 한국교회의 문제는 ‘개체화’로의 지나친 편향성으로 인해 함께 일하고 사회적 연대 속으로의 ‘참여’가 결여되고, ‘형식’에 치우쳐 ‘역동성’을 상실하고 있으며, 외적성장이라는 ‘지향성’의 오류로 인해 ‘생동성’이 약화되는 현상을 보이고 있다. 따라서 한국교회는 개체화과 참여의 균형을 이루려고 힘써야 하고, 역동성을 유지, 상승시키는 형식과 제도를 만들어야 하며, 외적 성장이라는 지향성을 수정하여 생동성을 회복해야 하는 과제를 안고 있다. 선교만이 한국교회문제를 해결할 수 있는 궁극적 방안이다.

영어 초록

Now is a very important time for Korean churches in that non-Christian Koreans are very critical of Christians and Christian churches. This crisis is due to several negative aspects of Korean churches. Some ontological concepts of Tillich will be applied in this paper to analyze problems within the Korean church, which are individualization and participation, dynamics and form, and vitality and intentionality. With these theoretical bases four factors are categorized as problems of the Korean church in this paper: self-centeredness, formalism, authoritativism and secularism.
First, general characteristics of self-centeredness are behaviors that include keeping one's own things instead of giving to others, and gathering together for fellowship but not scattering out into the world as Christians, and insisting their own opinions instead of listening to other's. These behaviors of self-centeredness make Korean churches and Christians care only for their own churches and not concern for neighboring local churches and the people in that community. Self-centeredness of Korean churches leads to extreme divisions of denominations, so that veracity of the gospel which Korean churches are preaching is suspicious to non-Christian Koreans. This results in minimal social service by Korean to the community.
Second, Formalism stresses only form instead of the content of Christian belief, causing many Korean Christians to exhibit their behaviors like Pharisees. This formalism weakens the dynamics of worship and diminishes one's experience with God. This also makes Christian behavior rigid, and leads Christians into the thought of dualism: dividing Christian beliefs from actions. Formalism also makes church organization strongly hierarchical institutionalized.
Third, authoritativism leads church leaders to mistakenly assign leadership roles to spiritually immature people who can project an appearance of authority. These immature leaders portray their worldly credentials in an effort to justify their position, but this only results in increasing the division between ministers and church members. This characteristics hinders Christians from becoming spiritually mature, enriching their characters as true Christians, and causes to ignore normal sense. Due to this authoritativism several problems arise such as authoritative mentality, pastor-oriented church structure, rigid hierarchies of church, and church conflict.
Fourth, the cause of secularism is due to the pursuit of external church growth. Secularism makes several problems such as stressing on numbers of church members, materialism, and also leads anti-ethical behavior of church leaders. This makes church to be nobility-centered organization which hinders the poor from attending church as its members. Specifically speaking, mega-church movement makes Korean churches to become secular ones. And it, being mixed with pastor's idea of success in life, leads the competition of churches and pastors to build huge church buildings. Secularism combined with non-ethical behavior of church leaders also leads non-Christian's criticism to Korean Christianity and churches.
Theoretically speaking, these problems of Korean churches which inclined extremely to 'individualism' and lack of 'participation' makes them ignore to serve neighbors and society, be deficient of social solidarity, lose 'dynamics' due to the inclination to 'form.' Korean church's 'intentionality' to external growth makes them lack of 'vitality.' Therefore, Korean churches have tasks to try their best to balance individualization and participation, to make forms sustain and enhance dynamics, and to correct their errors of intentionality of external growth to recover their vitality.
