Kant’s view of nature is placed upon weak anthropocentrism in the spectrum ofenvironmental ethics. Because the perspective of nature is closely interrelated with
that of human, Kant's view of nature needs to be construed on the basis of
anthropological system in Kant's critical philosophy.
The diversity of the concept of nature corresponds to the aspect of human as a
unified speculative-practical-aesthetic entity : the concept of mechanistic nature in
Kritik der reinen Vernunft, the concept of nature as a symbol of moral knowledge in
Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten and Kritik der praktishcen Vernunft, the concept
of aesthetic nature and the concept of teleological nature. In Kant‘s critical
philosophy we can find out coexistence between these concepts of nature.
Most of all, this study focuses on the view of aesthetic nature in Kant‘s third
Critique. I will investigate the view of Kant’s aesthetic nature through the concept of
disinterestedness, the beautiful and the sublime. In the context of Kant‘s view of
aesthetic nature, we can discover abundant values of nature, which can pave an
indispensable way to humanity & moral destiny of human. Futhermore, Kant's view
of aesthetic nature can contribute to uplifting the moral place of nature and
extending the boundary of human’s duty for nature.
