이제 박물관은 더 이상 통치자 계급의 역사와 문화만을 다루는 것이 아니라, 오랫동안 그들
에게 가려지고 무시되었던 보통 사람들의 삶을 들여다보게 되었다. 박물관은 사회의 요구를 알
아야 하고, 변하는 사회와 의사소통하는 유일한 도구라는 사실을 알아야 한다. 박물관은 한 공
동체 안에 존재하는 다양한 문화를 표현하면서 많은 대중들에게 문을 넓게 열어야 한다. 박물
관은 공동체의 필요와 기대에 융통성 있게 대응할 필요가 있는 것이다. 여러 박물관 특히 지역
박물관은 점차 다양해지는 공동체에 주목하기 시작했고 지역이나 국가의 문제를 토론하는 장이
되기를원한다.
박물관은 문화적, 재정적, 감성적, 물리적, 지적 접근 등을 저해하는 많은 장벽을 확인하고
이들을 극복할 방법을 찾고자 한다. 사회적 포용은 사회적 배제 (social exclusion) 의 상대적인
용어로 사용된다. 사회적 배제를 차단하고 포용을 촉진하는 박물관의 역할은 사회적 불이익,
차별, 사회적 불평등의 면에서 이해할 수 있다. 많은 나라에서 박물관은 건강, 복지, 사회서비
스 부서 및 기타 단체와 파트너십을 맺어 그들의 사회적 역할, 목적, 영향력을 개발하고 있으
며, 사회적으로 혜택 받지 못하는 것과 관련해 그동안의 사회적 성과를 전달하려고 한다.
박물관은 특별한 사회 학습 환경을 제공한다. 컬렉션을 활용하여 사람들로 하여금 전시물과
전시에 관한 그들의 관심을 찾게 하며, 다른 사람들과 상호 작용하고, 기술을 배우며, 동기를
유발시키고, 셈하기와 읽기 능력을 기르는 경험을 제공한다. 박물관은 새로운 기술로 사회 화
합. 공동체와의 관계와 참여를 불러일으키고, 평생 학습을 돕는 역할을 한다. 사실 사람들이 아
무런 어려움 없이 들어갈 수 있는 박물관 건물은 사회적으로 소외되고 다른 사람들과의 접촉이
거의 없는 사람들에게는 가치 있는 환경이 될 수 있다 . 대개는 방문객을 환영하고 편안하게 느
끼도록 만들 수 있다 사회 포용의 주요 원칙은 서비스 부문에서 배제되는 위험에 처한 사람들
을 참여시키고 관련시키는 것이다.

영어 초록

Now museurns not only deal with the history and culture of the rulers, but also explore the
life of ordinary people which has long been covered and neglected. They are aware of the
needs of a society, understanding that museurns is the only vehicle for communication with a
changing society. They should open their doors wide to a larger public, presenting a diversity of
culture within a community. They are flexible to respond to the needs and expectations of the
community. Museums, in particulaι regional and local museums have begun to focus on
diversified communities and hope to be a place for discussion of issues of regions and nations.
Museums are looking to identify the many baniers that exist to deny access (cultural, financial,
emotional, physical and intellectual and so on) and to identify ways of overcoming these. Social
inclusion is commonly used as the converse of social exclusion, a concept for understanding
disadvantage and inequality. In terms of tackling social exclusion and encourage social
inclusion, social roles of museurns can be perceived in social disadvantage, discrirnination and
inequality experienced by people 띠 many areas. For nations concemed with social policy and
its irnplementation, museurns have a part to play to win over the sector by forming partnerships
with health, welfare and social services departments and other organisations to develop social
roles, goals and cultural influences and deliver the achievement of social policy objectives
relevant to socially being disadvantaged.
Museums provide a special environment for social learning. A significant collection as a
starting point for ensuring that engage people in finding their interest in exhibits and exhibitions,
interacting with others, learning skills, irnproving motivation, and developing counting and
reading skills. Museums with new skills have a vital role in bringing harmony to society,
increasing community engagement and helping lifelong learning as drivers in combating social
exclusion. In fact, a museurns building where anybody can access without difficulty can be a
valuable environment to those who are socially isolated and have little contact with others. Most
museurns allow people to feel welcomed and comfortable. A major principle of social inclusion
is to pa띠cipate and involve disadvantaged individuals who are at risk of social exc1usion in
serv?ce sectors.
