The main aim of this study is to develop a rating scale that provides an adequacy ofitems and an adequacy of testing for the assessments of infants’ communications that
were observed during music activities. For the research, items were developed based on
correlating literature and, with the developed items, the infants’ communication was
assessed. The participants in this study consisted of 120 children were aged from four
to six years old. research period is eight months. The data was analyzed by face validity,
content validity, item discrimination, and items reliability. As a result, A rating scale was
made up 2 sub-scales(receptive language, expressive language) 110 items through a
literature reviewing and instruments. A panel of experts in infant education and speech
therapy, music therapy examined the contents validity. The preliminary 109 items was
administered in a series of two pilot tests conducted in this study. Over all face validity,
content validity, item discrimination, and items reliability were high levels. It was shown
that the rating scale in music activities for the assessments of infants' communications
is reliable rating systems for the assessments of infant communications in infant
education centers since they provide an adequacy of items and an adequacy of testing
based on a systematic process of analysis.
