junction diode
① What is bias?
- in transistor or diode, it is for reference that we want fixed direction for reasonable results.
② Why do we use bias when it comes to circuit.
- In our experiment, we use diode or BJT , and some amplifiers. in diode, reverse bias or forwardbias is so important. for example,
(a) I-V graph (b) forward bias
(c) reverse bias
fig 4-1. ideal diode
It present diode`s characters. in circuit, diode do like this. so we must know about bias.
③ Explain why junction diode allows current when forward bias, and does not when reverse bias.
- 1)diode in Reverse Bias
When the N-type region of a diode is connected to a higher potential than the P-type region, the diode is under reverse bias, which results in wider depletion region and larger built-in electric field across the junction.
