1. say 와 tell
He said to me that it was my last chance.
→ He told me that it was my last chance.
He said to me `Good morning.`
↔ He told me, `Good morning.`(*)
`What`s your problem?` I said.
↔ `What`s your problem?` I told her.(*)
예외적으로 tell a lie, tell a story/joke, tell the truth 등에는 사람을 목적어로 쓰지 않는다.
She told me that she would be late.
She told that she would be late.(*)
She said me that she would be late.(*)

③ tell의 목적어로 a word, a name, a sentence, a phrase 등이 올 때는 tell을 쓰지 못한다. say를 쓴다.
Alice told a meaningful word this morning.(*)

I told the children to go away.
