Situation
A development of cleaner alternative fuels for vehicles has become a high priority for many governments around the world since many environmental problems arise from the usage of fossil fuel. Natural gas was then highlighted and has become an extremely important source of global energy with its environmental benefits over other energy sources, particularly ordinary fossil fuels. Currently, 24% of world energy is produced from natural gas, which occupies the third place in the world among primary energy sources used and represents over a fifth of energy consumption worldwide.

This is because LNG has a higher hydrogen-to-carbon ratio; hence low amount of Carbon dioxide is being released. Moreover, after the process of liquefaction, the remaining LNG contains primarily methane with only small amounts of other hydrocarbons, which brings about the great reduction in CO2 emission. In addition, it is only flammable when the LNG vapor mixes with the air which contains 5 to 15 percent of natural gas in the atmosphere.
