You have just read an example of good listening. Listening is probably the most essential component of being a successful supervisor. The one attribute most often stated about a wellliked boss is, “he or she really listens to me.” As Dave illustrated in the above brief scenario, he was on his way to clearing up a misunderstanding, building rapport, developing respect and establishing a feeling of cooperation.
