2. Objectives
Know the phenomenon associated with the boundary layer and determine the flow behavior of water when other forms of solid are in the water stream.
3. Theory
- Classification of boundary layer
The boundary layer is fairly thin. The types are largely divided into laminar and turbulent layers, in detail laminar, transition and turbulent.
- Laminar flow
In general, laminar flow occurs at the front of the object. In the laminar flow region, the air flow layers do not mix with each other. Therefore, as the distance from the object surface to the y-axis increases, the speed increases due to the decrease in friction. Usually when the Reynolds number reaches 200,000 to 1,500,000, it is called laminar flow, where the flow is gradually changed to laminar flow as the Reynolds number increases due to speed or other influences.
