1. Purpose of Experiment
In previous experiment: Basic Characteristics of diode, we figured out the I-V characteristic of diode. In this experiment, we will try to know about one of the diode’s applications: rectifying circuit. We will design and measure rectifying functionality and the amount of ripple voltage of a diode rectifier circuit. By doing so, we will experimentally figure out the characteristics of rectifying circuits.
2. Method of Experiment
Design half-wave rectifier circuit and peak rectifier circuit. And then, measure the output voltage with oscilloscope. Inject sinusoidal voltage as an input with function generator, and find the value of resistance & capacitance which makes ripple voltage around 2.2V. And then, just change the frequency of input including 10Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, and measure corresponding output ripple voltages.
3. Results of Experiment
First of all, we tried to find the value of resistance that makes ripple voltage about 2.2V.
