India has not been a very attractive place to invest for a long time. This is because the information was opaque and the political risks were high. However, after the Modi government took office in May 2014, the atmosphere changed as Modinomics, which is represented by expanding foreign investment, promoting manufacturing industries, and developing infrastructures, started to operate. India recorded economic growth of 7 percent in 2015, surpassing China for the first time in 16 years since 1999. Since then, India has continued to grow at a rate of 7 percent to become the fastest growing country in the world, beating China, which is only growing at 6 percent.
Since taking office, Modi has announced plans for a 10 trillion won infrastructure project. By easing corporate regulations and lowering the corporate tax rate, the company has expanded manufacturing to 25 percent of GDP by 2022 (17 percent in 2014) and aims to create 100 million jobs in India.
