α-alumina is specific form of aluminum oxide. Nano α-alumina powder has good chemical resistance, high thermal resistance, good electrical insulator, and high wear resistance. Because of this properties, α-alumina is widely used in high technology industries, such as paintings, coatings, catalysts, electronics, optics even car engines, spaceships, biomechanical materials and so on. Especially, α-alumina has a greater density than γ-alumina, with a greater chemical durability and greater mechanical endurance. Therefore, α-aluminar is used as an abrasives, ceramic molds, abrasive and high-temperature response catalyst.
During Semiconductor or Display manufacturing process, process such as deposition and etching is usually high temperature and high pressure plasma.
