The Four Noble Truths and the concept of emptiness are widely held dharmas (or truths) of Buddhism, that even those who come to temples as a site of prayer at least once may have heard of. As the popularity of these two signifies, these major thoughts well represent the philosophical essence of Buddhism, especially in its early time. Before we talk about the concept of emptiness within the Four Noble Truths, I think it would be valuable for us to agree and define on the concept of emptiness because the name of it alone provides grounds for diverse interpretation. So Let us begin with conceptualizing the Buddhist definitions of emptiness.
