In contemporary society, the importance of media has been increasing because improved scientific technology has allowed people to approach the media more widely, which means the media has been playing a key role in the world. Some people think that the media has an effect on reaffirming the class system and spreads certain ideological perspectives. Ideology can be defined as the famous phrase from the book ‘Capital’ by Marx ‘They do not know it, but they are doing it’ (Corner, 2015). In other words, ideology is a subconscious idea which is inculcated by someone or something. Contrastingly, other people believe that the media merely reflects the needs and perspectives on society. In this essay, I will use examples from news and advertising to evaluate whether the media is used to expand the gap between classes and let people accept ideological agenda or whether it is just a mirror to reflect the real society.참고 자료
