Hi I’m jo minuk and I’d like to talk about patterns of democracy in japan. So, it is the contents I’ve prepared. First of all, I’d like to briefly talk about Japanese political history. And then I will analysis on the 10 features of Japanese democracy on the basis of professor Lijphart’s 10 dimensions. And lastly, I’ll make a conclusion based on my analysis. Ok. Then let me move on to the first chapter.
1. Brief history of the democracy in japan
The period of occupation:
As we all know, in 1945 Japan had surrendered to the allied force. After the surrender Japanese politic was so confused that more than 360 parties run for the election. And after few years, they transferred to independent, democratic country in 1952 as the San Francisco treaty took effect.
1955 system:
In 1955, by aggregating two conservative parties, the Liberal Democratic Party had established. This event can be considered as the beginning of Japanese politics.
