In this study, two experiments were conducted : Simple/Compound Pendulum and Free Vibration Experiments. The former was conducted to understand its dynamics and relationship between simple and compound pendulum. First, for simple pendulum, 10cm, 20cm, and 30cm long strings were used and the rotation angle was measured via IMU sensor to verify highest position. Then I compared experimental and theoretical period of the pendulum. The errors were 1.84%, 1.56%, and 0.73%, for each string. Second, for compound pendulum, shape of the pendulum was considered. I measured the period of the pendulum and calculated theoretical period with mass moment of inertia from Parallel axis theorem. Then I compared the experimental period of pendulum with theoretical one. The error was 1.23%.
The purpose of the latter, Free Vibration Experiment, is to comprehend how to analyze the mechanical system. Here, the spring-mass system with single-connected mass and series-connected mass were considered.
