This study is a descriptive correlation study to examine relationship life stress, depression and physical symptoms with 600 randomly
sampled students who are attending college. Data were collected from September 7 to 30, 2012 using a life stress questionnaire developed by
Jeon et al. (2000), NASSQ made by Ronan et al. (1994) and physical symptoms questionnaire by Han et al. (1992). Data collected were analyzed by
t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. As a result of analysis, college life stress scored 1.80 (0-3 scores), depression
scored 1.62 (1-4 scores), and physical symptoms scored 1.72 (1-5 scores). According to demographic characteristics, male students, higher grades
and lower economic levels experienced higher life stress than female students, lower grades and higher economic levels. There were positive
correlations between life stress, depression and physical symptoms. Explanatory power of life stress and depression on physical symptoms was
47.3%. Therefore, it is considered that solutions through multidisciplinary approaches considering internal and external environmental stressors
and variables are required to prevent college students from dropping out due to maladaptation and help them lead a healthy college life.
