1. How is TOMS following The Marketing Concept?
1) Cause–Related Marketing
A special type of sponsorship, cause-related marketing, involves the association of a for-profit company with a nonprofit organization. Through the sponsorship, the company’s product or service is promoted, and money is raised for the nonprofit. (Charles 259) TOMS adduced the innovative paradigm that the purchase itself becomes a donation soon “ONE FOR ONE”. Before, many companies just connected to charity and they used to contribute a part of it proceeds to the poor. TOMS is not a NPO(nonprofit organization), but TOMS seeks “the general public interests” same as NPO. In that way, TOMS proved which company can succeed through NPO corporate management style. This is TOMS’s one of success reason.
